"Democrats" calls on the people to "break down the fiftieth anniversary regime ..."

27 years already that the Togolese people seeks to free themselves from the "autocratic and sanguinary fiftieth regime RPT-UNIR". On this day, the party "Democrats" calls on all democratic forces and the Togolese people to "perseverance" and "resistance" to conclude the fight. It is through a press briefing this morning at the party headquarters. Read the statement!

Opening Statement

05 October 1990 - 05 October 2017

It is exactly 27 years to the day that the Togolese youth has risen as one man to end the dictatorship of Gnassingbe Eyadema. And since much water has flowed under the bridge with various fortunes.

Allow me first of all to bow to the memory of the martyrs who fell in Mango, Sokode and Bafilo since 19 August 2017; I wish a speedy recovery to the wounded and a lot of courage to the populations of the towns of Mango, Bafilo and Sokodé facing a savage repression or even a state of siege. And populations of Bè our Soweto courage. The night is long but the day comes and soon it will be the end of the Calvary of the Togolese.

I will not forget all the other martyrs who have punctuated the 27 years of struggle of the sovereign people eager for freedom and democracy.

This is the place to pay a well deserved tribute to the spearhead of the struggle, the Togolese youth who pay a heavy tribe since October 5, 1990, but still determined. The proof, since August 19, 2017, she screams her ras the bowl to the dictator Faure Gnassingbé and demands the return to the original constitution of 1992, the revision of the electoral framework and the effectiveness of the vote of Togolese living abroad.

This determination must call on all of them to become aware and to work to ensure that everything is done to conclude the struggle in 2017.

THIS YEAR IS THIS YEAR

Duty calls us, and that is why I join the comrades and companions in struggle, the Togolese people in the street, this sovereign people standing up to make of Togo a state of right where will reign the bread and the freedom.

I join my modest contribution to all those who are in the dynamic to overthrow the autocratic and bloodthirsty RPT-UNIR regime.

I therefore call the Togolese to the PERSEVERANCE and the RESISTANCE. Let us mobilize on this anniversary day to take a massive share in the great march of the anger of the coalition of democratic forces.
We must not retreat; Victory or death, we shall conquer.
TCHOKO TCHOKO ABLODE
Thank you.

National President
HABIA Nicodemus

Oruko Amutorunwa (Pre-Destined Names) In Yorubaland

Ibeji (Twins) In Yoruba land, one of the most important things done when a child is born is to give the child a name. This comes after the child’s ritual birth, massage of specific body parts and other rites as well. Names are given to the child by the father, mother, grandparents (paternal and maternal) and some close relatives also. But sometimes, the circumstance of a child’s birth will automatically give the child a name. This name is known as ‘orúko àmútọ̀runwá’ (pre-destined or generic name) in Yorubaland. The most common generic names (orúko àmútọ̀runwá) in Yoruba land are ‘Taiwo‘ and ‘Kehinde‘ (altogether known as Ìbejì) which are given to twins. The first born of the twins is called Táíwò, a shortened form of Tò-aiyé-wò (taste the world) while the last born of the twins is called Kéhìndé which literally means “the last to come”. Contrary to the popular belief that Taiwo, being the first born of the twins, is old

Nearly 200 Togolese workers falsely dismissed by the Chinese company CRBC

Nearly 200 employees of the Chinese company CRBC (China Road and Bridge Corporation) to rehabilitate the roads Lomé-Vogan-Afoin and Lome-Noépé, were falsely dismissed this week. It is following confrontations occurred during the mood swings of the 08 and 09 February.  These workers, very dissatisfied with their dismissal, say they do not stop there. They plan, in the coming days, and together with the leaders of the Union of Workers, Managers, Employees of Public Works and Buildings (SOECTRAB), major actions to get into their right. According to Gavor Kodjo, Secretary General of SOECTRAB who defends the workers dismissed by this Chinese company, the reasons why the Chinese company returns workers on construction sites do not hold water. "Workers are indignant against the very low hourly rate that does not even meet the Collective Interprofessional Convention, long hours of work without rest. They are often assigned to workplaces without being paid for the housing or tra
