My Dear Nigerian Youths", by Prof. Isa.

"My Dear Nigerian Youths", by Prof. Isa. I am very angry and that is why I am addressing you. You are the source of my anger and I want to vent my spleen- maybe not at you directly- but at the arrogance of your ignorance. You sit in front of a computer and rant all day through social media but with every click, you make money - not for yourself - but for Mark Zuckerberg (Facebook). With every megabyte of data you spend complaining and maligning, you make stupendous bucks for Etisalat, Glo and Airtel. Over the next two years, the number of Nigerian millionaires will jump by 47% but most likely you will not be among because you are too busy whining and complaining. And yet about 60% of Nigeria’s 170m population are below 35 years. Oh, what a waste! By the way, Mark Zuckerberg was 19 when he started Facebook. Africa’s youngest billionaire, Ashish Thakkar, is 31. He escaped from the Rwandan genocide and relocated to Uganda where he started an IT business. Collin Tho

A weekend of traditional festivals

This weekend, culture was celebrated in several corners of Togo. Hogbezan in Tabligbo, Avéza in Avé and Dzawuza in the Kloto to name but a few. If the natives of Tabligbo recall their exodus from Notsè, those of the Avé and the Kloto are grateful to the manes of the ancestors for the good harvests. The natives of Yoto were jubilant Saturday for the celebration of their traditional festival Hogbezan in Tabligbo. This festival is in memory of the adventures of the exodus of this people of the kingdom of Notsè to flee the barbarities of the king Agokoli. When You Leave That Position - A Warning To Our Leaders

I was motivated to write this piece after going through "The Ceramic Cup", an experience of a former United State Under Secretary of Defence, culled from "Leaders Eat Last" by Simon Sinek, incidentally sent to me by an about retiring senior colleague. The ex-under Secretary compared his experiences when he attended a conference while in office and after leaving the office. He relayed his varying encounters at a large conference of about one thousand people. He told the audience that he came to the last conference in business class with someone waiting for him at the airport. The protocol team arranged to pick him up to the hotel and had been checked in before his arrival. His room key was handed over to him and was escorted to the room. The second day, somebody was downstairs waiting for him and a vehicle was arranged to pick him to the venue. At the conference center, he was ushered in through a reserved entrance into the green room, the VIP waiting room and w

Deadly violence around the PNP march: Faure badly advised and pushed into the hole

Added to the murderous violence of Atakpame in 2005, Dapaong in 2013 and Mango in 2016, the Lomé power will still have to its credit the dead of Sokode. At the call of the Pan-African National Party (PNP), the Togolese were invited to publicly and peacefully demonstrate Saturday, demanding the unconditional return to the 1992 Constitution which enshrines a "two-round ballot" and the " And the right to vote in the diaspora. But this peaceful march waged by the organizers will have found the non-systematic of the Minister of Territorial Administration and Local Government, who accused the organizers of reluctant to follow the route intended by his administration. At his side, on Thursday, August 17, Colonel Damehame Yark, in front of the press, his counterpart of the Security and Civil Protection, threw the pavement into the pond by a gap of language badly digested by PNP activists and sympathizers. Jean-Pierre Fabre welcomed in jubilation on his arrival to Lome

The leader of the Togolese opposition, Jean-Pierre Fabre, returned to Lome Wednesday in the early evening. He was welcomed at the Lomé International Airport by a jubilant crowd. Yesterday evening at the Gnassingbe Eyadema International Airport in Lomé, one would think of a triumphant return of a messiah whose special mission is to liberate the Togolese people from the oppressor's chains which is none other than the fiftieth anniversary regime. The militants, sympathizers, very mobilized, warmly welcomed and led to the house the national president of the National Alliance for Change (ANC), Jean- Pierre Fabre. Civil society lends support to opposition

Since the tragic events of 19 August, a new wind has blown over the political parties with the rapprochement of the different groups (Cap 2015, G6 and PNP). Civil society also is not. It announces actions to support the process initiated. "Since the demonstrations, civil society has been terribly challenged by the tragic events we have all witnessed and experienced, and we already have some consultations with civil society organizations and the appeal that was launched today still gives More force, more tone and a willingness so that this civil society can position itself clearly and give its point of view on the events that are happening in our country ", suggested the Coordinator of the Social Universities of Togo ( UST), Prof. David Dosseh. Even if civil society has not yet taken action, it promises to return to the dance to lend a hand to the Togolese opposition who understood its role. And David Dosseh added: "I can say that in the next few hours I am su

Vogan high school, in total disrepair

The oldest and only high school of Vogan vegetates in a state of decay which does not say name. The old school is visibly forgotten by those trained there. Pastor Edoh Komi of the Martin Luther King movement appeals to intellectuals, economists, doctors and anyone who has been trained to bring his stone to restore the blazon of this school. They therefore call on school officials to make good use of the tuition fees collected each school year. Read the press release. The state of degradation of the school infrastructure which shelters the Vogan general secondary school is no longer a secret, because it is clearly visible and tangible, seen by all. Indeed, the Vogan High School created in 1974 is one of the oldest schools in the maritime region. As a result, thousands of intellectuals, economists, doctors, men and women of rights, managers, traders and executives of all levels have passed through this school, which today is unfortunately abandoned and left behind. So tomorrow we will see the atmosphere that will prevail in the different cities of Togo. Togolese on RFI: "It will be necessary that Faure Gnassingbé listens to his people and leaves power"

In the "Appels sur l'actualité" broadcast on RFI on Tuesday, Togolese spoke out on the repression of PNP demonstrations on Saturday 19 August and on the need to make the reforms before it is too late. Reading ! Reactions of the Togolese in the RFI program "Appels sur l'actualité" George:Saturday early in the morning, we were on the square there. But before we arrived, the security forces were already there. The time to approach, they began by pulling tear gas. We pulled out, but we came back. Because we want to say something to our leaders. They have to make the reforms to change the Constitution, because we can not dance and appreciate at the same time. They are doing their best, but it is not that. It has to change ! At least if we know that he is going to have the elections and there will be another person, we will remain quiet. We do not want anything. They have only to reform the Constitution. And someone else will come and see. Because the sit
