The city of Aného under the sea

It was in the open sea that the first capital of Togo awoke on Monday morning.

Currently, it is total panic in Aného. The inhabitants of this city have received this morning an unexpected visit of the sea lady. The waves of the surging waves of the Atlantic Ocean overflowed and finished their race in the houses by the sea.

According to some local residents interviewed by our colleagues of the RTDS (Radio Television Delta Health) it was around 4 o'clock in the morning that the waves were unleashed.

"This morning, we woke up in the open sea, all our things are soaked, we ask the local authorities to help us," said a lady, a victim of this overflowing sea.

"The waves are often overflowing, but this time there is panic in the house, even the public roads have not resisted the whims of the waves, they are under seawater. Head of state to take the situation seriously, "added another panicked.

In any case, according to some specialists, this overflow of the sea to Aného is not surprising. This is predictable especially with the ever-increasing rise of sea level and the construction of the 3rd quay at the Port of Lomé.

Recall the expert on the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea and Vice-President of the Oceanographic Commission, Professor Adotévi Blim Blivi, has repeatedly sounded the alarm on coastal erosion this city.

Oruko Amutorunwa (Pre-Destined Names) In Yorubaland

Ibeji (Twins) In Yoruba land, one of the most important things done when a child is born is to give the child a name. This comes after the child’s ritual birth, massage of specific body parts and other rites as well. Names are given to the child by the father, mother, grandparents (paternal and maternal) and some close relatives also. But sometimes, the circumstance of a child’s birth will automatically give the child a name. This name is known as ‘orúko àmútọ̀runwá’ (pre-destined or generic name) in Yorubaland. The most common generic names (orúko àmútọ̀runwá) in Yoruba land are ‘Taiwo‘ and ‘Kehinde‘ (altogether known as Ìbejì) which are given to twins. The first born of the twins is called Táíwò, a shortened form of Tò-aiyé-wò (taste the world) while the last born of the twins is called Kéhìndé which literally means “the last to come”. Contrary to the popular belief that Taiwo, being the first born of the twins, is old
