Gabriel Agbeyomé to leave the country

He has been absent on the media lately. Some would have thought he was on political leave. But contrary to what one might think, the "old man" lying sees farther than everyone else. On Monday in Lomé, the President of the Organization for Building a Togo Solidaire (OBUTS), Gabriel Kodjo Agbéyomé, since he is the one speaking, facilitated a working and exchange meeting with the Members of the bureau of his political party. During this meeting, all the burning subjects of the socio-political and economic news of the country were debated in the smallest details. From the question of reforms to the appointment of Head of State Faure Gnassingbé to head the ECOWAS, going through the political alliance between Cape 2015 and the Group of six political parties. In a statement released, the president of the Obuts has given some ways of solutions to get the country out of the rut. Here is the press release in its entirety!

The Political Bureau of Political Formation OBUTS met today, Monday 12 June 2017 at its headquarters in Djidjole. Various items were on the agenda, including an extensive exchange of views on national, political, societal and economic issues. It emerges from our work, debates, discussions and subsequent deliberation, which follows:

As for the torrential rains that have plunged several districts of the Urban Agglomeration of Lomé in recent days, causing floods, avalanches and pouring of all kinds, the political formation OBUTS expresses solidarity and compassion to the victims.

The OBUTS political group urges the authorities to take full advantage of the seasonal disaster experienced by the population every year; To devise any appropriate means of ensuring protection for the most vulnerable populations; And to take appropriate measures to control any risk of recidivism.

In this regard, and because of the recurrent nature of the devastating floods that are affecting the population, the OBUTS political group is debating a proposal for a modernization of public action in this area by implementing a program or plan Organization of relief at the national level in the event of a rainfall catastrophe.

The said program or plan could be called ORSEC (Organization of the Civil Security Response). It will enable rapid and effective implementation of all necessary means under the authority of the Prefect.
The activation of the ORSEC program or plan will clearly make the immediate triggering and the organization of the rescues under a single direction.

This system may include five (5) services adapted to the nature and extent of the event resulting from a natural disaster, namely:
* First aid and rescue provided by firefighters and approved civil defense associations.

* Medical and mutual assistance provided by a Regional Health Agency and an urgent medical service.
* Securing the sites affected by the National Police and the National Gendarmerie.
* Real-time links and transmissions of the elements of situation, provided by a Regional interministerial Service of the information and communication systems.
* In all affected areas: Transport, roads and works will be immediately insured by the predominantly interministerial authority competent in this area.

More broadly, the prefect will have to ensure that the population is alerted at all times to any risk of natural disaster. He will have to manage the administrative part of a major disaster and ensure the return to normal after the crisis. It will work with other dedicated services.

It is time to modernize public action in these areas, in order to preserve the populations' security, to offer them assistance, assistance, evacuation, first aid and, if necessary, to implement with all insurance companies Which operate on the national territory, a mechanism of rapid compensation to cover claims arising from a natural disaster.

In these respects, a presidential decree on the modernization of civil security can be taken without delay as part of a general framework for civil defense and security planning. The contents of the presidential decree will organize the mobilization, implementation and coordination of the actions of all public and private persons contributing to the general protection of populations exposed to risks of inclement weather and natural disasters.

On a completely different subject, with regard to the "sea serpent" which has become the subject of institutional and constitutional reforms, the OBUTS political group observes with concern that the subject continues to crystallize public opinion.

The political body OBUTS regrets that the recent bill introduced in the Parliamentary Chamber by political formations stemming from the parliamentary opposition has not flourished.

The OBUTS political group encourages the public authorities to open a constructive dialogue in order to bring together the diversity of approaches and thus work towards strengthening national cohesion. The aim is to find a compromise that will lead to the adoption of a consensual agreement.
Such an approach will enable Togo to act on the main trends of the future of the Nation, and in so doing, to summon the responsibility of each citizen to national recovery.

Regarding the recent accession of the President of the Republic of Togo, Mr Faure Gnassingbé, to the rotating presidency of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), the OBUTS political group is pleased In the international diplomatic visibility of Togo, this distinction is a real source of pride for all patriots.

The political group OBUTS congratulated the dynamism of the Togolese diplomacy, which helped to restore to Lomé place its traditional vocation to constitute a Crossroads of the Great International Meetings.
The political body OBUTS urges the President of the Republic to exert his best efforts so that Togo in terms of the democratic path is exemplary and becomes a reference model. In the present case, this is a demand for political modernity which predominantly animates the spirit of the community. The main objective of ECOWAS, which promotes cooperation between member countries and their economic integration by promoting the establishment of an intra-regional market and the free movement of people and goods, must be sustained, perpetuated and amplified.

Regarding national political life, the OBUTS political party is pleased with the announced rapprochement between CAP 2015 and a regrouping of six opposition political parties. The OBUTS political party has consistently expressed its conviction that disunity between political parties from the parliamentary and non-parliamentary opposition fosters immobility and disorientation. The OBUTS political formation will be a particularly attentive political actor in relation to the content of the roadmap and the objectives of this new political alliance in terms of political outlines, political stages, political orientation, Political strategy and the political action plan that will be put in motion.

On a social and population level, unquestionably, the daily life of a large majority of Togolese and Togolese is becoming more and more difficult; Many Togolese and Togolese struggle to afford three (3) balanced meals a day; Many Togolese and Togolese have no access to basic health care; Many Togolese and Togolese are out of school; Many Togolese and Togolese who are looking for the first job, many Togolese and Togolese have no access to running water, electricity or decent housing.

In these respects, in terms of social justice and the ethics of political personnel, the OBUTS political group proposes that legislative provisions on the moralization of public life be adopted by all political parties in the National Assembly so that all Those and all those who exercise a public responsibility, are henceforth bound to account.

Finally, with regard to the behavior of some of our compatriots, lacking wisdom and discernment, the political formation OBUTS observes with fear, the persistence of cases of "justice" popular in violation of the laws and texts in force in our country .

We therefore urge the public authorities to confront with force and vigor the scourge which dehumanizes the human being and which makes the perpetrators of these crimes believe that the Togolese society is lenient and understanding towards them; That everything is permitted, including ending the life of a man on the basis of mere unsupported suspicions, and / or rumors.

Oruko Amutorunwa (Pre-Destined Names) In Yorubaland

Ibeji (Twins) In Yoruba land, one of the most important things done when a child is born is to give the child a name. This comes after the child’s ritual birth, massage of specific body parts and other rites as well. Names are given to the child by the father, mother, grandparents (paternal and maternal) and some close relatives also. But sometimes, the circumstance of a child’s birth will automatically give the child a name. This name is known as ‘orúko àmútọ̀runwá’ (pre-destined or generic name) in Yorubaland. The most common generic names (orúko àmútọ̀runwá) in Yoruba land are ‘Taiwo‘ and ‘Kehinde‘ (altogether known as Ìbejì) which are given to twins. The first born of the twins is called Táíwò, a shortened form of Tò-aiyé-wò (taste the world) while the last born of the twins is called Kéhìndé which literally means “the last to come”. Contrary to the popular belief that Taiwo, being the first born of the twins, is old
