opposition coalition launches "Togo dead" on Friday

Instead of peaceful protest marches this week, the 14 Togolese opposition parties are launching a "dead Togo" this Friday, September 29 throughout the territory. Here is the statement of the coalition.

After the events of 20 and 21 September 2017, the coalition of political opposition parties and all democratic forces Togolese note with great satisfaction the despite the punitive expeditions, attacks by local opposition officials, illegal and muscular searches in localities and the breakdown of the mobile Internet connection.

The coalition of opposition political parties and all democratic forces renew their condolences to the grieving families and wish the wounded to be healed.

The coalition of opposition political parties and democratic forces thank the demonstrators and all the populations for their resistance.

The struggle for peaceful alternation is long but it will be won now, provided it does not falter. We owe it to our martyrs, our wounded and our political prisoners.

As a result, the coalition of opposition political parties and democratic forces announce the following program for this week:

- Wednesday, 27 September 2017: Press conference to commemorate the anniversary of the 1992 Constitution;

- Friday, September 29, 2017, dead Togo day: the coalition of opposition political parties and democratic forces invite people throughout the national territory to cease all professional and economic activity and to remember in memory of our martyrs ;

The other days of the week will be devoted to visiting the populations affected by the repression.

The coalition invites the populations to remain mobilized for the decisive actions that it will announce for the week of the 02 of October 2017.
