The High Commission for Reconciliation and the Strengthening of National Unity (HCRRUN) meets with the people of Lomé and its surroundings in the Gulf Prefecture for an information and exchange session on Thursday, May 18, afternoon.
This meeting of explanation will be an opportunity for the populations "to ask questions and to have clear answers to their concerns", recalls the prefecture of the Gulf in a statement. In addition, she added, "the meeting will be broadcast live on the NANA FM and Zéphyr radios in Lomé".
Discussions will focus on the implementation of the reparations program. HCCRUN officials will remind the curious, among other things, how exactly repairs will be done; The body responsible for carrying them out and the beneficiaries.
They will also answer the following questions:
-How were the victims identified?
- Is anyone who has testified to the CVJR recognized as a victim to be repaired?
- Are victims who have been repaired prior to the creation of the CVJR taken into account in this new reparations program?
- What types of repairs are possible?
- Will all victims be repaired in cash?
- How did UNHCRRUN determine the amounts to be paid to each beneficiary?
- Can a person who has suffered damage during the period indicated and who has not testified to the CVJR receive reparations?
- Where will the compensation be?
- Can an unsatisfied victim resort to justice?
Apart from these questions, the HCCRUN will be in charge of giving answers to other questions. Hence the importance of this appointment.
