Difficult to reconcile the exercise of religious freedoms and the peace of citizens in a secular state. In Togo, they abound in these religions which, with the untimely exercises of their practices, severely affect the social life. At the Ministry of Security and Civil Protection, a cults police was thought to bring order to the exercise of religious freedoms.
If it is not justice, the police station of any corner of Togo can testify to the plethora of complaints related to the noise nuisance of a neighborhood muezzin, a church, ministries or a sect philosophical in the corner, religious obediences without exception whose officials hold programs of worship to end the lives of local residents.
And that's not all, other unscrupulous individuals use religious freedom to introduce precepts and practices that severely undermine human dignity, with harmful impacts on life and social cohesion.
Who has not seen these charlatans turn into institutions of micro finance, healers, in short dressed in skin doctor of all the socio-economic evils, a pipe all found to scam and disillusion more often ignorant populations.
The police of the cults will have the responsibility to track down, apprehend and translate all these dark entities before the law. It will operate under the responsibility of the Directorate of Cults, currently managed by Squadron Leader Béléi Bédiani.
"It is important to note that the initiative shows the greater willingness of the authorities to find a panacea to the problem related to the exercise of religious freedom in a secular state that is ours" reveals PA-l'Union, citing a government source
