Clearly, the exchanges between the Coalition of the 14 opposition parties and the co-mediator, Guinean President Alpha Conde, have been fruitful. The meeting ended Monday a little late in the night.
The discussions, according to information from credible sources, focused on the appeasement measures demanded by the opposition before the opening of the dialogue. The evaluation of these measures unfortunately shows that the lines have not moved much.
Nearly a hundred prisoners, opposition activists arrested during peaceful protests, still languish in jails. The lifting of sieges in some cities in the interior of the country, including Mango, Bafilo and Sokodé, is not effective. These populations continue to suffer the exactions of the military, with the prohibition on opposition leaders organizing political activities there.
For its part, the regime of Faure Gnassingbé considers to have taken enough measures enough for the easing of the political climate.
However, relying on information from the Coalition delegation, and according to our sources, Alpha Conde is surprised that there are still prisoners who are not released. Also, he notes his surprise at the arrests of the opposition activists, who are continuing.
Guinean President then took the responsibility to intervene with the Togolese government, so that the latter can meet the rest of the prerequisites so that, in a short time, the dialogue is open for a way out of the crisis.
The delegation of the 14 Coalition will be received in Accra by President Nana Akufo-Addo in the early evening of Tuesday.
