A regional workshop has been held since yesterday in the Togolese capital against the ban on the production of fissile materials.
Organized by the High-Level Panel of Experts on the Development of the Treaty Banning the Production of Fissile Material for the Production of Nuclear Weapons and Other Nuclear Explosive Devices, this two-day meeting allows participants to share their knowledge of prohibition of production of fissile material.
It is also a question of mobilizing in advance of the adoption of a new treaty scheduled for 2018.
UNODA's Geneva Branch Disarmament Coordinator, Peter Kolarov, emphasized the importance of this workshop, which ends today. "The meeting is an opportunity for us to share knowledge and information within the different regions on issues related to the ban on the production of fissile material".
At the end of the work, a document will be made public declining the positions of the 26 French-speaking countries of Africa.
