Basile Adewussi, the president of the SARIAC, the main union of Togolese artists, returned in the afternoon on Saturday. A huge loss for the Togolese musical world.
An advocate of authors' rights, a great percussionist, Basile Adewussi has bowed out of a short illness at the age of 65. Present at the opening of the Africa Rythms Festival, he died on the day of his apotheosis.
According to Christian Begbessou, promoter of Africa Rythms, "it is a big loss for the Togolese music, it is a great percussionist, a trade unionist of music, peace to his soul".
He added: "In any case, we will try to honor his memory and see how to perpetuate what he has already started to put in place."
"The Togolese song, from tradition to modernity", is the musical work that it leaves to posterity.
Rest in peace !
