This weekend, culture was celebrated in several corners of Togo. Hogbezan in Tabligbo, Avéza in Avé and Dzawuza in the Kloto to name but a few. If the natives of Tabligbo recall their exodus from Notsè, those of the Avé and the Kloto are grateful to the manes of the ancestors for the good harvests.
The natives of Yoto were jubilant Saturday for the celebration of their traditional festival Hogbezan in Tabligbo. This festival is in memory of the adventures of the exodus of this people of the kingdom of Notsè to flee the barbarities of the king Agokoli.
The festivities of the 33rd edition were attended by natives and guests from neighboring Benin, including the prefect of the coast. "Unity is strength" is the theme around which this festival was celebrated.
According to Togbui Kponssihoin Koudozi, the Hogbezan rituals were answered by the gods because the hunters were able to capture a live deer that will serve as an offering.
Another celebration this weekend, Avéza in the prefecture of Avé where the natives met in Kévé for the apotheosis of this coupled festival of FESTAPA (Tam Tam Festival). This tam-tam called Atopami is played in solemn moments. The death of a patriarch or to announce an event. Then the rhythm varies according to the circumstance.
Avéza is actually a reunion party between the sons and daughters of the prefecture of Avé.
Also, Kloto prefecture vibrated to the rhythm of Dzawuzan, the festival of the first fruits and reunions of the sons and daughters of Kloto. It is also the return to tradition and the revalorization of the socio-cultural heritage.
"The land of Kloto offers every year abundant harvests, which deserves recognition to God Almighty," suggested Gavlo Martin, chairman of the organizing committee.
