Games of La Francophonie: Togo won only one medal

The curtains fell on the 8th Games of Francophonie last Sunday in the Ivorian capital. On nearly fifty athletes and national artists, Togo won only one bronze medal.

It is a secret for no one. Togo is still trampling in international competitions. For the 8th Jeux de la Francophonie, the country of Faure Gnassingbé stood out strongly.

With nearly fifty athletes and artists, Togo has collected only one bronze medal in its basket. A medal obtained by TCHALIM Essohounamondom. Of the 53 participating countries, Togo ranks 32nd. Benin, the eastern neighbor, with 5 medals (1 Gold, 1 silver and 3 bronzes), is ranked 18th.

There is every reason to believe that the Togolese athletes and artists, who had gone completely unprepared, witnessed the competition as spectators.

This debacle of Togo at the 8th Games of La Francophonie proves, Once again, the extent to which the Togolese authorities place little value on cultural and sporting things. After all, it is to bring down the ears of taxpayers that "We went to learn".

Remember that France finished first of these games with 49 medals including 22 in Gold. The first sub-Saharan country, Senegal is ranked 3rd. The host country Côte d'Ivoire finished 6th overall.
