The first wave of Togolese pilgrims took to the air this Friday for Saudi Arabia to accomplish the fifth pillar of Islam. Before their departure, they were still educated about the prohibitions of this country, among which tramadol and cola nuts.
Togolese Muslims are mostly addicted to cola nuts. But for this time of pilgrimage, they will be obliged to abstain from it at the risk of running sorrows. Tramadol is considered to be fortifying.
"There are some products that are banned by Saudi Arabia. Some of our pilgrims do not know. We asked the agencies as soon as they were registered to tell them about it. This morning we insisted on that. Tramadol, for example, is prohibited. People think that these products can bring them strength, but the opposite effect, "said Col Yark Damehame, Vice President of the Hajj National Commission.
And to prevent the risks involved: "If you are taken with tramadol, you can have up to 15 years in prison. Cola nuts are also prohibited. Those who managed to make them leave in the past years, it is not known by what means have had problems at the Airport in Saudi Arabia ".
It should be noted that 1800 Togolese pilgrims will take part in the Hajj 2017.
