Lome-Vogan-Anfoin: The MMLK criticizes the repeated lies of Ninsao Gnofam

The Lomé-Vogan-Anfoin axis is still attracting attention. Despite the communiqué of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructures, announcing the resumption of the work of redevelopment of this way, the site is struggling to start. It is believed that the very ample minister Ninsao Gnofam does not fool royalty of the Togolese, especially the users and residents of this road of shame that has suffered so much from financial misappropriation, Mafia deals between construction companies and some Members of the government, in short, of bad governance. In a statement released, the Martin Luther King Movement is rising to the niche and denounces this flight of responsibility from the Togolese government faced with the situation. For the MMLK, It is inconceivable that the government would allow itself to bluff the citizens with pompous announcements and Gascon's promises. In passing, the movement calls on transport unions, organized associations and development actors to be ready and mobilized for action. Good reading!

Route Lome-Vogan-Anfoin: One month after the government's announcement of the start of the works, appropriate measures are far from being taken.

Still bluffing!

The mystery remains still around the work of the rehabilitation of the road Lomé-Vogan-Anfoin, as if one is in front of a tale of the spider.

Indeed, after being abandoned almost two years, this way continues to suffer nothing but ad effects that eventually disgust the Togolese. The promises made by the Minister of Transport and Infrastructures to the Togolese parliament in June 2016, which provided for the end of the work in December 2016

, were sadly recalled. In August of the same year, the Minister of Communication and of the culture, Representing the Head of State at the ceremonies of the Adzinukuzan celebration in Vogan, which publicly declared that the President of the Republic personally carries out the work of this road. More than a year, it is total illusion. It is in this stride that the communiqué of the famous Minister of Infrastructure and Transport intervenes on 4 July last announcing the same day the resumption of work.

This announcement raised some optimism in some and pessimism in others. This last tendency, very suspicious and doubting the good faith of the Togolese authorities, ended up being right because deceit and lies. Authorities have been right in the optimism and the truth. The people are still flourished and their rights trampled underfoot. The misery of the beneficiary populations of this path will still last in time and the end is never for soon. No equipment is visible on this route since the famous announcement.

The Martin Luther King Movement condemns these repeated and repetitive state lies that have compromised the feasibility of the Lomé-Vogan-Anfoin road and call on transport unions, organized associations and development actors to be ready and mobilized for Actions.

Oruko Amutorunwa (Pre-Destined Names) In Yorubaland

Ibeji (Twins) In Yoruba land, one of the most important things done when a child is born is to give the child a name. This comes after the child’s ritual birth, massage of specific body parts and other rites as well. Names are given to the child by the father, mother, grandparents (paternal and maternal) and some close relatives also. But sometimes, the circumstance of a child’s birth will automatically give the child a name. This name is known as ‘orúko àmútọ̀runwá’ (pre-destined or generic name) in Yorubaland. The most common generic names (orúko àmútọ̀runwá) in Yoruba land are ‘Taiwo‘ and ‘Kehinde‘ (altogether known as Ìbejì) which are given to twins. The first born of the twins is called Táíwò, a shortened form of Tò-aiyé-wò (taste the world) while the last born of the twins is called Kéhìndé which literally means “the last to come”. Contrary to the popular belief that Taiwo, being the first born of the twins, is old

Togo now has its plan to combat land degradation

Land degradation is a reality in Togo. According to figures put forward by the Ministry of the Environment, each year 4.14% of the land (nationally) succumb to the phenomenon. And it is in response to the problem that the Government launched last March, the Program of definition of the national targets on neutrality in land degradation (PDC / NDT). On Thursday in Lomé, environmental experts validated a document that will serve as a blueprint for sustainable land management in Togo. This document, which estimates that 23,500 hectares of land are degraded each year in Togo between 2000 and 2010, has already identified national targets assessed on the basis of indicators such as land use, net productivity or carbon. According to the Secretary General of the Ministry of Environment and Forest Resources, Sama Boundjouw, these targets and their measures to be validated will become guidelines for any actor involved in the fight against land degradation in Togo during the next twelve
