Alert! Punitive expedition of red berets in houses in Bafilo: 4 compatriots arrested, beaten, detained without care at Kara Civil Prison

Ouro-Nini Kamalodine, Djagouni-Nini Abdou, Djobo Kamari and Affo Ramdan are the four (4) Togolese compatriots residing in Bafilo who were visited by the Red Berets on Wednesday 20 September 2017. Sequestration, beating with these four compatriots with big clubs and beating by these red berets. Ouro-Nini Kamalodin, Djagouni-Nini Abdou, Djobo Kamari and Affo Ramdan were seriously injured but did not receive care until we wrote these lines.

After this punitive expedition, the red berets have embedded these unfortunates to an unknown destination and it is that yesterday Thursday 21 September 2017 around 16 hours GMT that they were deposited in the civil prison of Kara.

Our sources close to the Kara civil prison and human rights defenders do confirm that these four compatriots, despite having been seriously molested and beaten by these red berets and with wounds and hematomas everywhere on the body, were not entitled to care. Worse still, Ouro-Nini Kamalodine, during his beating in his home, was fractured at the foot. This one until the time we wrote these lines, was not entitled to care. He is thus kept in prison and suffers enormously, inform us our sources.

What wrong have they done to be so treated?

Has the army been entrusted with the task of maintaining order as recommended by the Togolese Constitution in Article 147? Why does it act in front of populations with bare hands who claim their rights peacefully? Or do certain sons and daughters of "Land of our ancestors" have no right to express their convictions? Is claiming a right synonymous with terrorist aggression at the risk of confusing claiming citizens with aggressors or invaders? Or are these compatriots not entitled to express their opinions through peaceful demonstrations which are repressed in blood? Is Togo at war so that red berets (commandos), trained to kill come out of their barracks to sow desolation among the peaceful populations who claim only their rights? A right that will be salutary for all? What did the Togolese people do to deserve this fate? Inadmissible !!!

It is the place to draw the attention of the Togolese authorities to these acts and behaviors of the armed forces which, in the recent past, have plunged the country and plunged the population into complete disarray. It is unconscionable that forces supposed to protect the population will become the executioners of the latter through inhumane acts as inflicted on the four (4) compatriots of Bafilo who have been molested and beaten.

How can we treat the youngest as young as possible:

Ouro-Nini Kamalodine, 25 years old mechanic
Djagouni-Nini Abdou, 21 years old, pupil
Affo Ramdan, 20 years old, pupil
Djobo Kamari, 27, teacher volunteer

Togo now has its plan to combat land degradation

Land degradation is a reality in Togo. According to figures put forward by the Ministry of the Environment, each year 4.14% of the land (nationally) succumb to the phenomenon. And it is in response to the problem that the Government launched last March, the Program of definition of the national targets on neutrality in land degradation (PDC / NDT). On Thursday in Lomé, environmental experts validated a document that will serve as a blueprint for sustainable land management in Togo. This document, which estimates that 23,500 hectares of land are degraded each year in Togo between 2000 and 2010, has already identified national targets assessed on the basis of indicators such as land use, net productivity or carbon. According to the Secretary General of the Ministry of Environment and Forest Resources, Sama Boundjouw, these targets and their measures to be validated will become guidelines for any actor involved in the fight against land degradation in Togo during the next twelve...
