Judged and sentenced to 20 years in prison, in a trial deemed unjust, Kpatcha Gnassingbé, the half-brother of the head of state Faure Gnassingbé, received in his cell the visit of the men armed to the teeth and hooded, on Thursday 14 September. We know a little more about the reasons for this muscular descent to the civil prison in Lomé.
Mid-September. Around 4 hours, heavily armed and masked men visited Kpatcha Gnassingbe in his cell at the Lomé Civil Prison. If officially no justification has been given, the daily Liberté has poked and revealed what he believes is the origin of this manu militari visit.
According to an article published this morning in this body, the National Intelligence Agency (ANR) would suspect the kingmaker, who has become cumbersome and undesirable, to dispose of weapons in his cell to "prepare a mutiny" . Finally, the excavation did not give any evidence to corroborate this thesis.
Remember that last August, an inmate (later presented as a mentally deficient) assaulted Kpatcha Gnassingbé. Today, human rights defenders fear for the life of the former Minister of Defense and Veterans Affairs.
