Jean Kissi "Demonstrators trained by the government have introduced the ranks of opposition protestors"
The National Secretary of the Action Committee for Renewal (CAR), Jean Kissi, also spoke out today's demonstration and the repression that has taken place inside the country. Reading !
Hello Jean-Kissi. Do you think that today Togo must go to a referendum?
No no no. That is not the question we have to ask ourselves. We have been opposed to referendums ever since. Togo made a referendum and voted a 97% Constitution. So we want the return of this Constitution. The question is simple.
Are you ready to go all the way?
Obviously! Did you see that mobilization? This mobilization will not go down. They did everything to divide us in the media. They have done everything to divide us, but they will not be able any more. It's finish. If someone falls, we move on. Even if I weaken, one has to set aside and continue the struggle. It will not go back.
What message do you have to address to the Togolese who do not yet join the fight?
But everyone needs to mobilize. When there are violations of human rights, when there is persecution and you are silent, you are on the side of the wicked. Everyone has to mobilize. All the Togolese must get up. We will be on the media the next few days. Every week we have to make a demonstration until we get satisfaction.
Yesterday in Sokodé, the soldiers still used force. And there were wounded. So what is your reaction?
It is not only in Sokode. It goes on until Mango. Presently, power-trained demonstrators have introduced the ranks of opposition protestors. And they are in the process of committing a squabble. We had contacts with the minister. So, all this will weaken our determination. All this is to intimidate because fear has changed sides. Our determination can not falter. You have to know that when we met with the minister, they said that UNIR will only make one demonstration on the territory. And it was in Lomé, so it was not planned. They have not filed any information that they will make demonstrations in Mango. How is it that there are manifestations of UNIR in Mango? It's provocation. It's intimidation, but it will not stop us.
