In exile today, the former president of the Togolese Party, Alberto Olympio, is closely following the current political situation in his country. "The alternation is NOW," he said to his compatriots.
In an interview he granted Freedom, a Togolese daily, Alberto Olympio said not to be surprised by the popular demonstrations of September 6 and 7. He points out that the repressions that followed "show how much the parody of purification was a mockery of the Togolese who are still falling under the bullets and blows of the dictatorship." He encourages the people to continue the fight until they get what they want because, he adds, "the alternation, IT IS NOW". And to specify: "When one wants to chase a dictator, one does not ask his permission".
