Farmers in some areas of Togo are worried. Their crops are invaded by legionary caterpillars.
These caterpillars are a real "cancer" for farmers' crops that often have no solutions to the situation. They destroy maize and sorghum in these areas.
In response to this situation, Agriculture Minister Ouro Koura Agadazi "has asked any agricultural producer who has detected the presence of these predators on his farm to contact as soon as possible the deconcentrated technical services of the Ministry of Agriculture In order to make urgent arrangements ".
The control of these caterpillars is difficult since they reproduce very quickly and are resistant to pesticides.
They are causing enormous losses to farmers and affecting populations, as yields are low if the fight is not early.
