The whole world celebrated the festival of music on June 21st. In Togo, for this 35th edition, the famous rocker Jimi Hope organized a giant live concert at the crossroads Deckon, one of the most frequented crossroads of Lomé. But the concert provoked strong reactions from music lovers.
Although the idea of celebrating Togolese music is good, several commentators on the music scene have voiced strong criticism of the show.
The first couac is the condition of life of the Togolese. Numerous sources say that the Togolese has other concerns and is stunned by his daily life, and therefore does not have the heart to party. However, this did not stop people from making numerous trips to follow the singer artist.
Second place, the place chosen (a crossroads) is not the appropriate place for these kinds of shows according to several observers. "Please, friends, tell Jimi Hope to find another place for his next shows. To make a show at the traffic lights of Deckon to create the traffic jam, it is very shameful, "wrote a surfer on his Facebook page.
Third couac, the Togolese, fans of their artists, expected to see a panoply of artists on stage. Disappointment, Jimi Hope was virtually the only one on stage with his guitar.
"Concert to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the feast of music with JIMI HOPE and many other artists" was the message on the advertising posters announcing the Show. "Is it the celebration of the festival of music in Togo, or a 100% Jimi Hope and Company concert? "Asks another.
Would it be a bad organization for the "big" Jimmy Hope to find himself practically alone? It should be noted that this concert is organized under the high sponsorship of Faure Gnassingbe and the Ministry in charge of Culture. Perhaps, according to the artist's fans, the choice of place (Deckon) was made to attract the greatest number of music lovers?
All told, Jimi Hope who honors Togo outside is not a beginner. He obviously has the reasons for his choice.
As proof, alongside these criticisms, flowers were thrown to him.
