Essobiou Sentenced to 10 years for homicide on his wife

He was sentenced to 10 years' imprisonment after murdering his wife after a household scene. The events take place in Laokopé, Haho Prefecture, in November 2010.

The young Essobiou, the father of a child, is convicted of beatings and wounds without intention of homicide. He is sentenced to 10 years' imprisonment, 4 of which are suspended.

That evening of November 2010, when Essobiou was returning from the field, he saw his wife talking to another woman in the small village market. He ordered his wife to return. But the wife refused to comply.

The same scene had occurred a second time. Still, Essobiou's wife had remained unconstrained. This time, a lively discussion broke out between the couple.

Carried away, Essobiou gives a violent kick to the lower abdomen of his wife who falls and dies on the field. He escapes, but was arrested by the territorial brigade of Notsè and deferred to the public prosecutor's office of the city.

In the preliminary investigation, he acknowledges his fault and expresses deep regret. The accused was found guilty of killing and wounding without intention of homicide by the jury and sentenced to 10 years' imprisonment.
