While traveling to the United States for a fund-raising campaign for his DignityToilets for Togo project, Bedi Taoufik Boukari was denied Donald Trump's entry visa. The news comes from the Peninsula Daily News, an American newspaper.
Indeed, the young Taoufik works with the Rotary Club and after submitting his project to build a toilet, he was invited by the program coordinators for a fundraiser. This is to complete the construction of compost toilets in the village of Zogbédji in Togo, and in other localities where people need their wilderness. But on two occasions, the visa was refused.
"Taoufik applied for a visa, and had all his required documents including letters of invitations and support during his visit, but he was refused," writes the American newspaper, quoting Doc Reiss, Coordinator of Project of Taoufik.
The latter explains this refusal of the US by the legislation that currently prevails in the Usa. "The way immigration is currently defined is such that if you can not show that you have a major need to return, they will not let you come," he says.
However, the coordinator did not stop there. He appealed to David Gilmour, the US ambassador to Togo, to ask him to help the young man with his visa.
