The National Council for Decentralization (CNSD), created last January by presidential decree, entered the operational phase with a first meeting this Tuesday.
Under the theme: "exchanges on the process of decentralization", this meeting was opened at the Hotel Sarakawa by the Prime Minister, Komi Selom Klassou.
From the outset of this first meeting of the CNSD, the Head of Government recalled the principles of decentralization. It "is not, can not be and can not be a tent set up for the sun," he argued.

It is also a system of governance which recommends the involvement of citizens in the management of the affairs of the city at the base and the change of mentalities with regard to the strategies of development that it induces.
In Togo, he continued, the challenges of decentralization include strengthening participatory and representative democracy, transferring skills and resources and managing them. "To meet expectations, local and regional authorities must be empowered to manage their territory efficiently, strengthen the financial capacities of their communities and set up a financing mechanism," he said.
The meeting is attended by members of the government, political actors, traditional leaders and members of the civil society that make up this council created to set the guidelines for the implementation of decentralization and ensure their consistency with others Sectoral policies.
